Critical Mass in the Events Diary.
History
Critical Mass bike rides began in September 1992 in San Francisco. Initially, the event was known as Commute Clot and was composed of a couple of dozen cyclists. Bristol Critical Mass was founded in February 1994 with around 50 people taking part. The ride started off on the first Friday of the month, but by March 1995 it had moved to the last Friday in line with other rides around the world.
WE ARE TRAFFIC! 1999 Bicycle Documentary – A Movie About Critical Mass
We Are Traffic! chronicles the history and development of the “Critical Mass” bicycle movement, one of the most spirited and dynamic social/political movements of the apathetic 90’s. In over 200 cities in 14 different countries, Critical Mass has now become a monthly ritual of reclaiming the streets by bicycle activists riding en masse.
